Schools need to know that they can claim reimbursement for teachers who support Ngā Manu Kōrero speech contests.
About the funding
This funding pool is jointly managed by the Post Primary Teachers’ Association (PPTA) and the Ministry of Education.
Payment may only be made to boards that have applied through the process below. Payments can't be made to organising committees or other bodies.
Applying for funding
You must consult with the local Ngā Manu Kōrero organising committee before you apply.
Step 1
The board writes a letter of application to the PPTA. The application should include:
- dates and location of the competitions
- the names of the teachers requiring leave for attendance.
Step 2
The PPTA assesses all applications, and then passes its recommendations to the Ministry of Education.
Step 3
The Ministry gives approval.
Step 4
The Resourcing Division processes the application, and sends payment to the approved board.
